The EcoConserve Program is at the heart of Discovery Resorts&rsquo; commitment to sustainability. It is not just a initiative but a deeply ingrained philosophy that guides the resort&rsquo;s operations, influences guest experiences, and fosters a culture of environmental stewardship within the local community. By integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of the resort&rsquo;s daily activities, the program ensures that conservation efforts are both impactful and enduring.
At its core, the EcoConserve Program is structured around four specialized committees, each with a distinct role in achieving the overarching goal: to rebuild, protect, and conserve the natural environment.&nbsp;GARMA (Garbage Management) finds creative ways to repurpose waste, the Sea Guardians are the island&rsquo;s protectors, Green Thumb nurtures the land, and FEW (Fuel, Energy, and Water) Champs leads by example in encouraging mindful energy and water use. Through these collective efforts, sustainability has become second nature&mdash;woven into daily life at Discovery Resorts.

Every meal tells a story of sustainability and community. Taramnan sa Sambiray Farm in Discovery Boracay, created in partnership with Barangay Sambiray, is a labor of love that provides fresh herbs and vegetables. What started as a small initiative to provide fresh ingredients for staff meals has grown into a flourishing organic farm, cultivating arugula, lettuce, kale, papaya, cherry tomatoes, and blue butterfly pea flowers. A dedicated nursery on-site ferments organic fertilizers, ensuring a sustainable cycle of growth. Situated 15 minutes by boat from Discovery Coron is a 1,000 square-meter farm that was built using recycled materials from the resort. Taranuman, meaning "farm" in the local Cuyonon dialect, brings the flavors of the land straight to the resort's dining outlets.
Its harvest now features lettuce, basil, eggplant, chili pepper, mustard greens, kale, and snow cabbage&mdash;all adding fresh, vibrant flavors to Firefish Restaurant&rsquo;s salads, the Dugong Bar&rsquo;s mojitos, and Discovery Coron&rsquo;s signature cucumber-calamansi welcome drink. With plans to expand into mud crab and pig farming, alongside drip irrigation, LED grow lights, and better accessibility, our farms continue to push the boundaries of sustainability. More than just providing fresh ingredients, these farms are a reflection of Discovery Resorts' deep respect for nature, the community, and the guests who get to share in the harvest.

<h2 style="text-align: center;">GarMa (Garbage Management) Task Force</h2>
Creativity and care go hand in hand when it comes to sustainability at Discovery Resorts. Through regular beach clean-ups by the task force, non-biodegradable waste such as empty packets and wrappers are collected and transformed into sturdy ecobricks, becoming the building blocks of change. In 2019, Discovery Coron utilized ecobricks to construct a Vermi House at Taranuman Farm, home to African Night Crawlers that create nutrient-rich compost. These ecobricks have also been used to build planters, tables, and chairs&mdash;many of which were donated to nearby schools, bringing sustainability to life in the community.&nbsp;
Through the EcoConserve Program, single-use plastics have been meaningfully phased out across Discovery Resorts. Plastic cups have been replaced with paper, cassava-based cutlery has taken the place of disposable plastics, and reusable tote bags are now standard in every villa. Every discarded item holds potential; wine bottles become elegant vases, and driftwood is reshaped into rustic chairs. These conscious choices ensure that the islands' pristine beauty is preserved for future generations, blending environmental responsibility with the charm of our resorts.

At Discovery Resorts, protecting the ocean is a commitment woven into everyday life. The Sea Guardians dedicate themselves to keeping the waters around the resorts thriving, shielding marine life from illegal fishing and nurturing the delicate reef ecosystem. The team has installed fish aggregating devices, creating safe havens where fish can gather and grow.
They have also built coral nurseries, carefully restoring damaged reefs so marine life can flourish. A no-take zone was also established to ensure fish populations can recover, while dedicated monitoring helps keep coral-eating starfish from harming the reef. Through the dedication of the Sea Guardians, these waters will remain full of life for the next wave of travelers.

This committee leads efforts to conserve fuel, energy, and water, ensuring that every resource is used wisely. Boat trips are carefully planned to minimize fuel consumption, reducing the environmental impact while maintaining smooth operations. Guest rooms are equipped with energy-efficient appliances, ensuring comfort while keeping consumption low. These small but intentional choices help protect the beauty of the resorts, allowing future generations to experience the same breathtaking landscapes.
Guests are invited to be part of this shared commitment by practicing simple but meaningful habits, such as turning off lights and air conditioners when stepping out or using water mindfully. Even small gestures, like reusing towels, make a difference in preserving the island&rsquo;s precious resources. By working together, the resort and its guests create a place where sustainability and hospitality go hand in hand, keeping nature at the heart of every experience.
